WATERCOLOR BASICS

New Clay Center Class Offerings

Watercolor Basics classes will be temporarily moved to Fridays in July and August due to Summer Camp.

Paper Quilling is the art of rolling, shaping and arranging thin strips of paper to create decorative patterns, floral designs and dimensional artwork. Using simple tools and techniques, students will learn how to form coils, scrolls and other basic shapes that can be combined into unique creative compositions. This is a class for beginners and materials are provided.

Cost:

$45 KIFA Members | $50 Non-members

Zentangle is a meditative and easy-to-learn art form that uses structured repetitive patterns to create intricate non-representational images. Zentangle is designed to be accessible to everyone, requiring no prior artistic experience. Instructor will provide basic kit. Students must bring their kit to each class.

Kristen Tull’s Beginner’s Wheel Class (5 weeks) at the Cascio Clay Center kicked off on November 19, 2025! The Center is at 405 Main Street, Stevensville. The students are learning the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Students will be shown step-by-step processes of wedging, centering, opening, throwing, trimming and glazing, taking clay from its beginning stage to finished forms. Plan to get your hands dirty! This class is designed for those who have never used the wheel or are working on basic skills. The Center has six wheels for students plus one wheel for the instructor.

Beginner’s Wheel Class with Stephanie Zeiler- Sunday Morning 10:30-1:00pm Ages 15+
Class Fee: $275 members, $290 non-members  25 lbs of clay, glaze and firing included

DESCRIPTION 
This course is designed to introduce and familiarize students with the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Students will be shown step-by-step processes of wedging, centering, opening,  throwing, trimming and glazing, taking clay from its beginning stage to finished forms. This class is designed for those who have never used the wheel or are working on basic skills. Pottery terminology and basic glaze techniques will be discussed. Class time and the encouraged practice in the open studio time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills in clay.

DESCRIPTION

The course is designed for beginner students as well as students with some wheel experience . Students will practice basic forms, pulling handles, as well as learn some advanced wheel projects.

Open Studio is for anyone who would like to paint or work on a project in the Members’ Gallery at KIFA. Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm when docents are on duty. A donation of $5 is requested and will go toward the support of KIFA and its outreach to our art community.
