Kristen Tull's Beginner's Wheel Class

Your own unique watercolor style will emerge over time. These classes will give you tools to get started on a firm foundation.
Limit 10 participants. Sign-up closes on one week before class begins or when the class is filled.

Open Studio is for anyone who would like to paint or work on a project in the Members’ Gallery at KIFA. Hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm when docents are on duty. A donation of $5 is requested and will go toward the support of KIFA and its outreach to our art community.

Unleash your creativity in a Wende Woodham Ribbon Collage Workshop. Participants will learn how to transform ribbons, trims, paper and mixed materials into a colorful bay-themed collage. Each student will take home her own matted and framed ribbon collage. No drawing or painting skills required. Just come… have fun… and experience the amazing art of Ribbon Collage. All materials provided, including the mat and frame and even some of the essentials to create another ribbon collage at home. Please bring sharp scissors, ruler and pencil.

Zentangle is a meditative and easy-to-learn art form that uses structured repetitive patterns to create intricate non-representational images. Zentangle is designed to be accessible to everyone, requiring no prior artistic experience. Instructor will provide basic kit. Students must bring their kit to each class.

Kristen Tull’s Beginner’s Wheel Class (5 weeks) at the Cascio Clay Center kicked off on November 19, 2025! The Center is at 405 Main Street, Stevensville. The students are learning the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Students will be shown step-by-step processes of wedging, centering, opening, throwing, trimming and glazing, taking clay from its beginning stage to finished forms. Plan to get your hands dirty! This class is designed for those who have never used the wheel or are working on basic skills. The Center has six wheels for students plus one wheel for the instructor.

This course is designed to introduce and familiarize students with the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Students will be shown step-by-step processes of wedging, centering, opening, throwing, trimming and glazing, taking clay from its beginning stage to finished forms. This class is designed for those who have never used the wheel or are working on basic skills. Pottery terminology and basic glaze techniques will be discussed. DESCRIPTION
The course is designed for beginner students as well as students with some wheel experience . Students will practice basic forms, pulling handles, as well as learn some advanced wheel projects.
Birdhouse Workshop with Nikki Kennedy- Thursday Nights 6-8:30 Ages 16+
Class Fee: $100 Clay and Glaze Provided
3 Classes Starting April 16th, 23rd a week off, then May May 7th
DESCRIPTION
In this clay birdhouse workshop students will learn foundational handbuilding techniques including slab construction using templates as a guide, scoring and slipping, and structural reinforcement. Emphasis will be placed on form, balance, drainage, and proper ventilation to create a functional, weather-resistant ceramic birdhouse.
On our second day we will add surface design through decorative carving, in this session you'll bring your own unique designs to life.
In the final class, we’ll be painting with vibrant underglazes, allowing for layered color, pattern, and personal expression before the final firing. No prior clay experience necessary—just come ready to build, experiment, and make something beautiful for the birds.
