Participants will prepare a canvas background, paint various types of paper and create a composition to express individual creativity. Students will use many textures to develop personal style. No special skills needed, just a desire to have lots of fun with artist, Vicki Cearfoss!

This is a free class for novice plein air painters or those who are looking to step up their game in painting outdoors. We’ll meet in the Member’s Gallery at KIFA.

DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to introduce and familiarize students with the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Students will be shown step-by-step processes of wedging, centering, opening, throwing, trimming and glazing, taking clay from its beginning stage to finished forms. This class is designed for those who have never used the wheel or are working on basic skills. Pottery terminology and basic glaze techniques will be discussed. Class time and the encouraged practice in the open studio time will enable students to create at their own level and improve their skills in clay.

We are still currently working on Open Studio and Clay Center Monthly Memberships but hope to have something to offer after the New Year. We LOVE your enthusiasm and excitement and can't wait to see you in the studio, but please be patient as we build something wonderful for our community.

Open Studio is for anyone who would like to paint or work on a project in the Members’ Gallery at KIFA. Hours have been expanded to include Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm when docents are on duty. A donation of $5 is requested and will go toward the support of KIFA and its outreach to our art community.
