Kristen Tull’s Beginner’s Wheel Class (5 weeks) at the Cascio Clay Center kicked off on November 19, 2025! The Center is at 405 Main Street, Stevensville. The students are learning the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Students will be shown step-by-step processes of wedging, centering, opening, throwing, trimming and glazing, taking clay from its beginning stage to finished forms. Plan to get your hands dirty! This class is designed for those who have never used the wheel or are working on basic skills. The Center has six wheels for students plus one wheel for the instructor.

This course is designed to introduce and familiarize students with the basic techniques of the pottery wheel, focusing on throwing cylinder and bowl forms. Introduction to Handbuilding with Stephanie Zeiler- Saturday Mornings 8:30-11 am. Ages 15+

DESCRIPTION
This 6-week entry-level course, we will learn to create both functional and sculptural forms using hand-building techniques. We will learn the fundamentals of three-dimensional design coupled with fundamental clay techniques, slab construction, coil building, and pinching, and use these techniques to create projects. Basic art elements will be introduced and texture and surface decoration will be explored. This class is for students with no prior handbuilding experience, and those who might want to expand on some previous basic handbuilding experiences. All are welcome.
Coffee and Clay Workshop: Let's make a Slab Mug with Stephanie Zeiler Ages 15+
Workshop Fee: $55 members, $65 non-members
Sunday January 18th 10:00-12:30
This workshop style course is for beginners who would like to be introduced to clay and the basic handbuilding technique of slab construction. Students will learn techniques to create their very own slab mug. Simple surface designs will be introduced as a way to personalize your creation.
Students will have to come in at a later date once mugs are bisque fired in order to glaze their piece through guided instruction.

We are still currently working on Open Studio and Clay Center Monthly Memberships but hope to have something to offer after the New Year. We LOVE your enthusiasm and excitement and can't wait to see you in the studio, but please be patient as we build something wonderful for our community.
